International Students

The Kingdom of Bahrain is well-known as the most forward thinking and liberal country in the Middle East, where modern values and infrastructure blend easily with Arabian culture and tradition. The country has a very low crime rate and is extremely safe for international students, with a friendly local population and expatriates of all nationalities living harmoniously. AUBH is located in the green and well-manicured area of Riffa, 35km from the adjoining road causeway to Saudi Arabia by car, and 30km from Bahrain International Airport. A plethora of reasonably-priced accommodation options are available for our international students, and we request those requiring accommodation to please contact Student Affairs for help and advice. Student Affairs will also assist with obtaining Student Visas for non-GCC nationals (renewable every 12 months), information on which can be found at:

Surrounding Area

AUBH is located in close proximity to a number of other Schools and Universities, therefore the area is well-resourced for students, with a variety of restaurants available in addition to our on-campus options. Alosra Supermarket in Riffa Views is the closest convenience store for all grocery needs and is within walking distance of campus.

There is plenty to do around campus for thrill-seekers, with the Bahrain International Circuit – home of the annual Formula One race in April - less than a 10 minute drive away, offering a global standard karting track and various thrilling motoring experiences including Ducati riding, dragsters and Land Rover off-road driving. Bahrain’s first indoor skydiving center - Gravity Village - is also close by, and in addition to the skydive experience is a great place to hang out with friends, hosting an outdoor gym, green space and various cafes. Bahrain’s biggest outdoor waterpark, the Lost Paradise of Dilmun, complete with wave pool and beach cabanas, is a short drive from campus and offers student discount and ladies-only nights.

The Royal Golf Club sits adjacent to campus and is not only a championship 18-hole course for keen golfers but offers a Country Club membership and various dining options. For nature lovers, a visit to Zallaq Springs will satisfy green cravings - with its lush design inspired by Japanese Zen gardens, it is home to waterfront shops and cafes and hosts various events suitable for all ages.
