Dr. Perla Atiyah

Dr. Perla Atiyah
Associate Professor of Biology

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Dr. Atiyah has taken on the role of Associate Professor of Biology at AUBH. In addition to her accomplishments in academia, she brings with her international experience as a researcher, environmental consultant, and project manager with organizations such as the European Commission, World Bank, and United Nations.

Prior to joining AUBH, Dr. Atiyah served as Assistant Professor at the Lebanese American University, where she was responsible for developing the environmental sustainability curricula for the School of Engineering. She was also an Assistant Professor at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. During her tenure at ZU, she developed a new, interdisciplinary B.Sc. Program in Environmental Science and Sustainability and served as Chair of the Department of Natural Science and Public Health.

Dr. Atiyah’s educational background includes a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences and Geography from Northwestern University, M.A. in Environment and Development from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, and Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of California (UCLA).
