This paper explores the intersection of sustainability and innovation in design, specifically focusing on flexi banners, commonly used in advertising. With increasing environmental concerns associated with plastic waste, particularly PVC (polyvinyl chloride) materials, this research aims to investigate the recycling potential of flexi banners and explore innovative ways to repurpose this material. By observing the quantity of flexi printed banners produced in Bahrain, the study outlines the current landscape of banner usage and identifies potential products that can be created from recycled materials. The findings reveal significant opportunities for sustainable practices in the advertising industry and suggest innovative product applications. Additionally, this research highlights the importance of consumer awareness and the need for effective recycling infrastructure to support these initiatives, ultimately contributing to a more circular economy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026.
