Students from the American University of Bahrain (AUBH), founders of the innovative project “LYNQ”, have been awarded “Innovative Venture of the Year” in the University Track of the INJAZ Al Arab Youth Entrepreneurship Celebration (YEC) 2025 held in Egypt, which brought together students and entrepreneurs from 13 countries across the MENA Region. This achievement follows the project’s remarkable success in Bahrain, where it earned two major awards at the 17th edition of INJAZ Bahrain’s Young Entrepreneurs Competition — “University Company of the Year” and “Best Technology Award,” the latter sponsored by the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB).
The “LYNQ” project represents an advanced environmental innovation that extracts moisture from the air, purifies it, and converts it into clean, drinkable water. The concept was developed in response to the growing environmental and health challenges resulting from the excessive use of plastic across the Gulf region. Recognizing the proven risks that plastic poses to human health and the environment, the team sought to develop a sustainable alternative that harnesses modern technology and natural resources to offer a cleaner, more responsible solution.
Dr. Amal Alawadhi, Dean of Students at the American University of Bahrain, commented: “We extend our sincere congratulations to our talented students on winning this distinguished award, which stands as a true source of pride for AUBH. This accomplishment reflects our commitment to nurturing youth potential and empowering students to apply knowledge in service of their communities. It underscores the capability of Bahraini youth to create meaningful impact and represent the Kingdom with excellence in regional and international arenas. This milestone also embodies our vision to foster a culture of innovation among students by providing an advanced academic environment that inspires them to transform their ideas into projects of real social and economic value, further solidifying AUBH’s position as a leading institution in supporting impactful, student-driven initiatives.”
Dr. Alawadhi added: “The continued recognition of the LYNQ project reflects its strength, creativity, and ability to stand out across various platforms. It highlights the project’s promising role in advancing environmental technology and promoting sustainable entrepreneurship. We remain committed to providing our students with the guidance and resources they need to confidently pursue innovation and develop practical solutions to contemporary environmental challenges, in line with AUBH’s vision to cultivate the next generation of future leaders.”
The members of the LYNQ project team expressed their pride and gratitude upon receiving the award, describing it as a strong motivation to continue developing and expanding their ideas in ways that serve society and protect the environment. They also acknowledged the continuous support of INJAZ Bahrain and AUBH, commending the university’s inspiring academic environment, valuable training opportunities, and specialized mentorship, which have been instrumental in their success and have empowered them to compete with confidence at the local, regional, and international levels.
