The course introduces the fundamentals of starting the entrepreneurship journey as a career and as a business, backed up by empirical guidance and solid theoretical research in the field. Learners will be able to harness different tools and resources and would build the right attitude on how to start a new business venture that is relevant and can be competitive in the marketplace.

In this course, study contemporary media theory and learn how theories have changed and adapted as mobile multimedia has moved society into ubiquitous ‘always on’ consumers and creators.

What does it take to be a successful leader and manager? This course analyzes the skills, dispositions, and abilities needed to lead, manage, and mentor others. It introduces real-life scenarios and challenges as well as best practices for leading positive change and motivating creative teams. Analyze the differences between leading and managing and learn the importance of values and ethics. Explore various leadership assessments to discover one’s own managerial and leadership style, strengths, and areas to enhance.

Throughout human history, the law has managed to regulate a small portion of human behavior; the rest is left to ethics. As ethically responsible media practitioners/consumers, where are the lines drawn for society and the profession.

The emphasis is placed on practical application, with hands-on exercises and real-world examples provided to enhance students’ creativity and innovation skills. By the course’s conclusion, students will possess a comprehensive understanding of ideation models and processes, empowering them to approach problem-solving in a more effective manner and think beyond conventional boundaries.

Project Management is an essential tool for the operation of every industry today. In the creative industries there are usually multiple teams: video, social media, audio, graphic design, interaction design, user experience design, etc. The Project Manager must bring all these elements together to ensure the project meets deliverable dates.

Leadership is the process by which a person guides and influences others to engage in collective endeavors and achieve common goals. Students will articulate goal-oriented personal leadership vision and develop their personal leadership plan. Throughout the semester, students will work in teams and will be receiving and giving personal feedback from and to their peers. This feedback will be incorporated in their self-evaluation and their personal plan. A before and after assessment will take place at the last meeting and students will present their leadership plan to the class.

The people analytics movement has contributed important insights to help managers become more effective at leading people and making better human-resources (HR) decisions. This course is designed to introduce these insights and the use of data to improve the practice of managing people within organizations. All practices and approaches learned in this course are backed up by robust empirical evidence that has demonstrated their effectiveness.  Ethical considerations relating to the use of data about the organization’s workforce will be discussed. Additionally, the course will examine important regional and international legal aspects pertaining to existing work laws and their implications. The course will utilize a variety of methods including lectures, case analyses, class discussions, and hands-on exploration of a variety of data sets.

Through this course, students will learn about the various stages of production, including pre-production, production, and post-production, and gain practical skills in project planning, resource allocation, and team coordination. They will also develop an understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and quality control in the context of multimedia production.
