The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) has announced its partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s International Science and Technology Initiative (MISTI) for three consecutive year. This collaboration, powered by Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), hosts exclusive training workshops open to all university students across Bahrain, led by a team of MIT trainers, and taking place at the University’s D-Lab, utilizing the latest tools and creative workspaces.

Global Lab Teaching Robotics Workshop

  • This workshop underscored the use of cutting-edge robotic technologies to advance knowledge and upskill students with some of the necessary hands-on technical skills. The students learned about rapid prototyping, 3D computer-aided design (CAD) models, laser cutters, and 3D printers to improve their original prototypes.

Building Interactive Wearable Technology Workshop

  • This workshop enabled students to learn how to build interactive technology from scratch with applications in specific domains such as robotics, exoskeletons, interactive fashion, assistive technology, and other fields. Students delved deeper into the world of fabrication, sensors and circuits, and coding using rapid prototyping techniques like 3D printing, laser cutting, sewing, and Arduino-based circuit design.

Actuated Experiences – Design & Fabrication for Interactivity Workshop

  • This workshop was divided into two groups and had the opportunity to engage in an exclusive workshop focused on design and fabrication for interactivity. This hands-on course allowed participants to explore foundational technologies and fabrication techniques, including 3D modeling, rapid prototyping, and laser cutting, through projects that fostered creativity and innovation.

MISTI Accelerator – Business Startup Workshop

  • This workshop offered a unique opportunity for students to engage deeply with the process of establishing and managing startups, guiding them from conceptualization to practical implementation. Under the mentorship of international experts and trainers from MIT, participants benefited from hands-on experience and practical insights, ensuring a productive and enriching learning journey that bridged academic knowledge with real-world application.
