Why Multimedia Management?

Now, even traditional Investment Banks need creative thinkers to help advance their multimedia platforms and innovate for their clients. The digital world is expanding daily, and artists and other creative talent are finding new ways to express themselves digitally, whether through designing impactful marketing campaigns, or creating the next viral Tik Tok challenge. AUBH’s MA in Multimedia Management gives existing creatives the opportunity to build competencies in media theory and practice while acquiring the managerial skills needed to lead teams of creative people. In addition, students will have the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills to be successful media business owners.

Who should apply?

Free thinkers who want to create original concepts, animations and artworks, and want to lead a team. This two-year degree is for anyone who wants to climb higher in the advertising, media, fine art, marketing or public relations fields, or an existing professional looking to shift to a multimedia career. Graduates will explore building both technical and soft skills including: agility; adapting to change; solving challenging problems quickly; building and sustaining customer relationships; and staying current in media tools and resources adaptive to multiple industries. Locally, this could mean creating the next viral video ad, or managing one of Bahrain’s tech start-ups.

Program Content

This innovative program starts with core classes related to research, leadership and theory in a multimedia environment. After completing the fundamentals, students choose elective classes that suit their own career paths, such as Managing Human Capital and Contemporary Issues in Social Media. From this platform, students have the opportunity to complete an individual thesis with help from experienced mentors. By the time a student completes this degree, they are ready to take on challenging roles across growing industries including advertising, video game design, web design, or television.

They have also empowered us to move from being a passive consumer of media to an active producer of content. In this course study contemporary media theory and learn how theories have changed and adapted as mobile multimedia has moved society into ubiquitous ‘always on’ consumers and creators.

What does it take to be a successful leader and manager? This course analyzes the skills, dispositions, and abilities needed to lead, manage, and mentor others. It introduces real-life scenarios and challenges as well as best practices for leading positive change and motivating creative teams. Analyze the differences between leading and managing and learn the importance of  values and ethics. Explore various leadership assessments to discover one’s own managerial and leadership style, strengths, and areas to enhance.

Being an effective negotiator and conflict manager is key to leadership success in the business world. What are effective ways to reach effective agreements? This course analyzes conflict in terms of Management in business organizations and explores best practices for enhancing conflict resolution, problem-solving skills, and communication skills in cross-cultural and international enviornments.  Experience activities such as case studies, and role playing.

With any profession, the understanding and practice of conducting research helps to understand and answer important questions, examine data, and make informed decisions. Use theoretical foundations to critically review literature and apply research to solve problems. Learn about research terminology and ethical principles and challenges as they apply in multimedia and business environments. Compare elements of the research process within quantitative, qualitative and mixed method approaches. Topics of study include analyzing different research methods, applying statistical analyses, and preparing research proposals.

This course enables students to demonstrate the practical and academic studies accumulated during the Masters in Multimedia Management in relation to the wider industrial and social context. Students will be encouraged to explore the boundaries of multimedia design and to identify and research the intersection of management, design, and creativity. The final project will be the product of a negotiated brief and will need to display an awareness of current research and technical expertise in the chosen area of study.  Industry based work will be encouraged to give the project a more direct focus on market needs and industrial work methods.

Students are to choose three electives from the following list, with two electives in one College discipline (Design DSGN or Business MGMT, HRMT) and one elective in the other College (Design DSGN or Business MGMT, HRMT).

The aim of this course is to motivate and improve students’ entrepreneurial skills and help them understand the importance of innovation for the success of a business. To achieve this objective, students will be given the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills which are essential for the development, organization and management of innovative ventures. Students will be able to recognize and evaluate potential opportunities to commercialize these innovations, to design and implement specific plans in order to exploit these opportunities and to obtain the financial resources necessary for the implementation of these plans.
