American University of Bahrain Accredited as a “Healthy University” by the World Health Organization

As part of the Healthy Universities Program, which aims to build sustainable health policies in universities and provide a healthy educational and work environment, and within the framework of the ongoing partnership between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the American University in the Kingdom of Bahrain was announced as a Healthy University, during the official ceremony held at the American University headquarters, in the presence of Dr. Diana Al-Jahromi, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Tasneem Ghaleb Atatreh, Representative of the World Health Organization in the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with Dr. Bradley J. Cook, President of the American University, and Dr. Wafaa Al-Sharbati, Director of the Health Promotion Department, in addition to officials from the Ministry of Health. In this regard, Dr. Tasneem Atatreh stressed that this accreditation reflects the vital role of universities in promoting health and community well-being, noting that the American University has joined five other universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain that have obtained the same accreditation. For her part, Dr. Wafaa Al-Sharbati expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the university to achieve this achievement, stressing the importance of continuing to strive towards achieving the goals aimed at promoting community health through commitment to joint work between various parties, in a way that supports the achievement of a cohesive and healthy society. In turn, Dr. Bradley J. Cook expressed his pride in the university obtaining this accreditation, noting that it reflects the university’s commitment to providing a healthy and sustainable environment that supports the well-being of students and employees, in line with the health strategies and development plans in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
