Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the American University of Bahrain (AUBH), establishing a framework for collaboration in the fields of higher education, scientific research, and knowledge exchange in space sciences.
The agreement was signed by H.E. Dr. Mohamed E. Al-Aseeri, Chief Executive Officer of BSA, and Dr. Bradley J. Cook, President of the American University of Bahrain.
This initiative aligns with Bahrain’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and technological advancements. By strengthening ties between higher education institutions and BSA, the collaboration aims to integrate young professionals into emerging scientific fields and empower them to contribute to the global space industry.
Under the terms of the MoU, BSA and AUBH will undertake a series of joint initiatives, including the exchange of knowledge and expertise in space sciences and related disciplines. Both entities will develop specialized programs and internship opportunities for students, organize workshops and technical seminars to provide hands-on learning experiences, and conduct joint scientific research and technical studies to advance space-related innovations.
AUBH and BSA will also launch public outreach and educational initiatives to promote awareness of space science, providing site visits and hands-on experiences to deepen students’ understanding of space operations and technologies.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed E. Al-Aseeri, CEO of BSA, highlighted the significance of this partnership in advancing Bahrain’s presence in the global space industry, and said “Collaborating with AUBH, one of Bahrain’s leading academic institutions, is a pivotal step in strengthening young Bahrainis’ research capabilities and developing a skilled workforce for the space sector.
