The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) marked Bahrain Sports Day, observed annually on February 20, with a vibrant celebration at its campus in Riffa.
The event brought together members of the university’s students, academic and administrative bodies, reinforcing AUBH’s commitment to promoting health, wellness, and teamwork within the Bahraini community.
To commemorate the occasion, the university organised a diverse range of sports activities, attracting the enthusiastic participation of students and employees. These activities were designed in alignment with the university’s holistic educational philosophy, which emphasizes the “Sound Mind, Sound Body” approach to foster overall well-being.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Bradley J. Cook, President of the American University of Bahrain, highlighted the significance of Bahrain Sports Day as a national event that strengthens social cohesion and encourages positive engagement within Bahraini society, and stated, “At AUBH, we are proud to support sports in Bahrain as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of physical activity and community well-being. Our sports initiatives reflect our dedication to promoting health, teamwork, and an active lifestyle among our students and the wider community,”
Dr. Cook further explained that the university actively seeks to expand participation in sports by encouraging both students and staff to prioritise physical fitness and overall health and underscored that these elements are essential for fostering happiness, productivity, and a balanced lifestyle.
As part of its commitment to sports and wellness, AUBH’s campus provides access to its students and staff to a wide range of athletic facilities, such as, a Sports Hall, state-of-the-art gym and football field. These initiatives create an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes physical activity and encourages a healthy lifestyle.
