Academic Support Services

1. Learning Skills Center

The Learning Skills Center is a comprehensive academic support hub that assists students across a range of subjects, including Math, Writing, Physics, Economics, Accounting, Finance, and Design.

Using a peer tutoring model, the center provides personalized one-on-one help to students seeking to improve their understanding and skills in these areas. Faculty members play a key role in the center by nominating top-performing students to work as tutors, while also referring students who need additional support to the center for assistance. This collaborative approach ensures that students have the resources and guidance they need to succeed academically.

2. Student Teaching Assistants roles and responsibilities:

At the American University of Bahrain (AUBH), Teaching Assistants (TAs) play a crucial role in supporting faculty and enhancing the educational experience for students. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet specific criteria, including holding a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 or above and having completed a minimum of 90 credits. Once selected, TAs are tasked with various responsibilities, such as facilitating tutorials, labs, and class exercises to provide students with personalized attention, assisting in the preparation of teaching materials, and grading minor assessments. However, there are certain restrictions in place to ensure the integrity of the TA’s role, including limitations on teaching courses they are enrolled in and proctoring exams. Faculty members are responsible for supervising TAs, ensuring their marking is moderated, and maintaining the appropriate level of oversight in course activities. Through their dedicated support, TAs contribute significantly to the academic success of students at AUBH.
