The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) held an orientation week for newly admitted students, beginning their higher education journey within Bahrain’s first American-style University. Students were given a full university orientation, including a welcome speech from Dr. Bradley J. Cook, AUBH President; Dr. Amal Al Awadhi, Dean of Students; and AUBH Student Ambassadors and Student Council Representatives. The orientation week included sessions for newly joined faculty members too.
The students are enrolled across AUBH’s three colleges – College of Business & Management, College of Engineering, and College of Media & Design. Students will benefit from the University’s holistic approach to education, which focuses on creating well-rounded and work-ready graduates through a focus on soft skills as well as academia.
Prior to the start of the academic year, all freshmen and new transfer students are required to attend a student orientation. The session overviews general academic regulations, university policies, and available support services. The Office of Student Affairs introduces University life through campus tours, meetings, lectures, demonstrations, and other team-building activities. Orientation week aims to help new students adjust to AUBH, meet other new students, and engage with faculty and staff.
Commenting on faculty orientation week, Dr. Bradley J. Cook, AUBH President said, “We enjoyed welcoming our new and returning faculty members to campus. We look forward to working collaboratively with ourfaculty members to deliver the highest results through creating a unique educational experience for our students this upcoming academic year.”
Dr. Amal Al Awadhi, Dean of Students commented: “I very much enjoyed welcoming our incoming Fall semester students and seeing in person how they represent our values here at AUBH. I congratulate them all on the start of their university journey today.” As the first American-style University in Bahrain, AUBH takes a unique approach to learning, going beyond imparting knowledge to giving students access to real-world scenarios and practical case-based learning. AUBH adopts the latest in learning technology, library, labs, and sports center facilities, and strives to keep its vibrant campus bustling with academic and extra-curricular life among its multi-cultural student body.
